Changing A Color Photo To Black and White

If you want to change a color photo to black and white, (B & W) from now on, there are certain considerations you must take into account.  First of all, you have to realize, everytime you change or edit something on a photo, the quality of that photo decreases.  For the best quality photos you'll want to obviously use a DSLR shoot in the RAW format, and edit with Adobe Raw or something similar, then you can export it to a TIFF or JPEG File.  Now onto B & W photos.  When you want to turn a color photo to B & W, take into account, first of all the lighting.  Is the photo light or dark, are there enough shadows to make the transformation look good.  If your not sure, make a copy of your photo and play around with the settings in your editing program.  This way you'll have your original, which is virtually untouched.  Take note that some pictures do not look good, or lose their interest by turning them into B & W.  Take a look at the pictures below and decide for yourself which photos look better in color and whuch ones look better in B & W.  You can find all these photos in my pages.
